Crossfit Slump!

Thanks to Kettlebellrob I found this post and then, coincidentally, it was posted on the CFNE Website. It is especially timely because lately I am tired and a little more discouraged when doing the WOD's. This following excerpt: " It’s a burden you know too well. That point halfway through a workout when the voice inside your head starts pounding against your eardrums, telling you you’re too tired, too sick, or too weak to go on.", has been occurring more often than I would like lately. I am hoping that my lingering cold, persistent elbow injury, and my all consuming dislike of the winter months is fueling these doldrums.  I am encouraged by the fact that I continue to go to the gym and fight through the workouts and hope, that this is just part of the ebb and flow of Crossfit and life. That there will be times when you just don't "feel" it but you muscle your way through because the feeling of exhilaration you get when you are finished so overwhelms the momentary discomfort and discouragement.
So, read through the blog post and get some encouragement and words of wisdom for when you get into your own "slump".  Click on the following quote to read the entire article:

"Start by using your doubt as an indicator of where you need work. Rather than silently dreading the day when double unders come up in a WOD, do so many of them that you’d just as soon skip rope across the street as you would walk there. Rather than telling yourself you’re too old to keep up with the fire-breathers, re-define your limits and stop making excuses. Refuse to be intimidated by your weaknesses and you might discover that all this time you were drowning yourself in a 3-foot pool."
