Psych Out or Psych Up

This was the workout:
 “Griff”
2 Rounds of:
800 Meter Run Forward
400 Meter Backwards Run

I read this the night before and re-read it and then again, read it the morning of the workout. Each and every time I read this I saw run 800 forward, run 400 backwards, and then run 800 forward again. This would equal one round. Then, I "read", do it all again for a second time.

Obviously, I read it incorrectly. I added 2 extra 800 meter runs.

Now, I will give myself a little credit because I still went to the class albeit already having decided to do only 1/2 of the workout.  Incredibly and luckily, at the end of the workout (the one I fabricated in my scaredy cat mind) I had actually done as much as everybody else minus one 400 meter backwards run.

So, what was the lesson I learned?  I let self doubt, and fear, and negative thinking win. I was "stinkin thinkin" so much I couldn't see what the correct workout was. I was so fearful of the running I literally couldn't see straight. I was afraid of being last. (see this awesome post by Lisbeth Darsh about fear and "being last")

I have won a lot of the  battle, I go to the running workouts. Now I just have to learn to accept whatever the workout is, realize I can do it to the best of my ability and let the chips fall where they may. There are no losers in Crossfit, just winners! I saw this quote a bit ago and I need to remember it all the time,"No matter how slow you run it is still faster than someone sitting on a couch."
